United Airlines Returns To Norway

On May 20th, United Airlines new service connecting Newark (EWR) to Bergen (BGO) began, which also marks United Airlines' return to Norway. It is Bergen’s only long-haul route and it is the first time since October 2018 that Bergen has a non-stop flight to the United States. United last served Norway in September 2016 when it ended service between Newark and Oslo. After September 2016, United regulated Norway to Star Alliance member Scandinavian Airlines (SAS).
The flight will operate 3x weekly and will be summer-seasonal. The route will run for 19 weeks, with the last flight back to the United States on September 27th. All flights will be operated by Boeing 757-200s. The aircraft carries 169 passengers in three cabins: 16 lie-flat seats in United Polaris business class, 45 seats in Economy Plus, and 108 in Economy. The schedule is as follows (flight times are based on local times):
Flight UA270: Newark (EWR)- Bergen (BGO) departs at 8:40 PM and arrives at 10:05 AM the next day (7 hours and 25min flight time); and will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Flight UA271: Bergen (BGO)-Newark (EWR) departs at 11:55 AM and arrives at 2:25 PM (8 hours and 30min flight time); and will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

In 2019 the United States was Norway’s third-largest non-Nordic country for international tourists, only behind the United Kingdom and Germany. Bergen is a prominent tourist center as it is the gateway to the fjords and the historical part of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage City. United will be able to link Bergen to New York and over 40 destinations across the United States and Canada.
